In November 2014, this passion for truffles excited us in the expansion of our reforestation program with an attention to planting already truffle trees, oaks and hornbeam in particular. Experts from the University of Perugia participated in the project to ensure better production, increasing the chances of better and abundant harvests.
Our reforestation project adds another dimension, one in which you are involved: ADOPT A TRUFFLE TREE!
Why not share our passion so far? The idea of watching your truffle tree grow and produce fresh truffles is not only romantic but also means that you will play your part in supporting sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods, reducing Co2 emissions.
Celebrate the mysteries of nature with La Cerqua
and adopt a truffle tree for yourself or as an exclusive and Eco-friendly gift
Your adoption contribution covers pruning and the loving care of both the plant and the earth around it, to foster healthy growth and improve the tree’s truffle yield potential.
So why not come with us in this adventure and share our passion? You are always welcome to visit your tree, and join us on a truffle hunt during the season. It’s not often that a unique opportunity such as this comes along, one in which you not only benefit directly but also contribute to the health of our planet and its honoured traditions. Imagine too the new and interesting conversations you could have around your own dinner table.
After I adopt my tree how long will it take before I start producing truffles?
Under ideal weather conditions, truffle trees can start producing on average 5 to 9 years after planting.
How many truffles can my tree produce in a year?
Truffles are a risky business and that is why they are considered one of the most expensive food products in the world. Depending on the climatic conditions, the competition of hungry animals (who are also looking for these refined tubers) and a lot of luck, their productivity varies from year to year.
What can I expect after the first year of adoption?
Adopters will receive a photo and a map of your selected sapling, an adoption certificate with GPS coordinates and as a special gift, The Guilietta gift box, full of La Cerqua truffle delicacies to tempt and satisfy every palate of the Food.
Are all the truffles mine?
Absolutely! You have the choice: have your truffle sent by courier or, at the end of the season, we can sell them for you at the market price and send you the revenues.
With shipping cost not included
What happens if the tree dies?
We will replace it in the same place with the equivalent type and age, if possible. Otherwise we will plant another similar tree in a new location.
What types of trees can I choose?
We planted two types of native trees to choose from: Italian Quercus pubescens or Ostrya Carpinifolia beech. Adopters then have the option to choose which type of truffle has been micronized with your tree (micronization is when the roots of the tree are impregnated with truffle spores) in this case Tuber aestivum Vitt. (Black summer truffle) or Tuber melanosporum Vitt. (precious winter truffles).
